I wonder, why oh why does Apple use a material that makes finger prints stand out on the keys! Some people have greasy greasy oily fingers, something I don't have but yet STILL have those fingerprints! The keys as usual look like crap after some good usage. Mainly because you have this terribly tough aluminum casing, but a display that's as soft as butter, BIZARRE!įingerprints? NOT an issue even after closing the lid. Static is bad on the display which will attract tiny dust occasionally.īetween the 2 mentioned items you will be fine.Īnd yes, it takes almost NO pressure to cause the LCD to distort from your finger. Can't seem to find any signs if they plan on updating the Non-retina models with the latest processors.īuy a can of air and a microfiber cloth at WalmartĪnd all is good. I don't care so much about the resolution, but more about the processor already being "previous gen". I would buy the Non-Retina 13" MBP in a heartbeat, and just replace the optical and HDD with a couple SSDs, if it was running the Haswell processor that the RBMP has. Also has anyone seen scratches even when cleaning carefully with microfiber and an approved cleaning liquid? But being plastic it is much more likely to flex. My question is for current MBP owners, Have you experienced any transfer of dirt and oil from the keys to the screen? I noticed at the store that the screen is inset from the gasket around the edge, so it seems like it SHOULDN'T touch. The oil actually attacks the plastic and mars it permanently. This happened on my old Pismo Powerbook and my 12" PowerBook. I get why they are using plastic, but it seemed like he had to use a screen protector on his MBA because oil from the tips of his fingers would collect on the keys, and the keys would touch the screen when it was closed. I didn't realize the screens were plastic, no glass like my older MBP. Apparently these are plastic screens? A while back I was looking at a friend's MacBook Air. I LOVE the glossy screens, but I went to the Apple Store and touched the screen on a new RMBP.

I would buy the latest 13" MBP today, as I don't need more than the 8GB/256GB setup. I do development (Ruby/Rails) on my mid 2009 13" MBP running Mavericks, and I find it is getting old enough that I'm getting some lag when I'm running DB and web server, Rubymine, browsers, etc. I got a paper receipt and waited - and only two week days later I got an email and picked up my computer that day without ANY extra charge or hassle or even an appointment (which has always been problematic for me at Apple Stores).I am in need of a new MBP. I went to iStore late afternoon on the Friday before Labor Day weekend with an appointment, and they found my warrantee in less than 30 seconds (meaning I did not have to pay for repairs besides water damage) and pledged they would get it fixed ASAP despite the long weekend being challenging to order parts from factories. I had no Apple Care and was terrified I would have to purchase a new computer, especially after Best Buy told me they are not authorized to fix Macs. This year I bought a 2017 open box laptop from Best Buy that started to malfunction for no reason. I have lived here for 3 years and gone to Apple Store SoHo location for repairs and struggled to get Genius Bar appointments and good customer service. IStore is best Apple repair in Lower Manhattan! Never again, just go straight to Apple for any type of repair. I relayed the price difference to the technician and claimed that he can’t do anything about the pricing as this is set by the owner. Going to this shop is like going to an auto shop where they are on a trip to inflate the price. Their diagnostic test revealed that the battery is old, and I have to pay $97 for that? Suspicious of the pricing, I called Apple and a customer support staff named Anamaya, claimed for my macbook the price to replace it cost $129 with no service Charge. They called me back 3-4days later and claimed the battery needs changing and front panel for $249 and service fee of $157.50 for a total $406.50. He also claimed, the price will be the same if I brought it to apple store for repair. Paid the $97 diagnostic fee ( that will be subtracted if I agree to continue with whatever fault and repair they will find and charge for it), the lone person (who has the personality of a dead person) also offered additional $50 to expedite the process as he claimed there are lots of repairs they’re doing (I declined). As the battery indicated “needs servicing”.
